COOMBE

Coombe to Cowlands Creek

A wonderful walk along the river side, you will see the most beautiful and unspoilt estuary with moored boats. I have painted here over the last 20 years, and I still find it captivating, peaceful and is time has stood still for centuries.
It is best to park at Coombe and walk to the left towards Cowlands. You will need to check the tide times, as it is best seen at high tide, when you will see stunning reflections. Today it is quiet; even the cottage selling cream teas has shut, and the creek retains its air of magical secrecy.
Taking the A39 Truro to Falmouth road, turn off at Playing Place for the King Harry Ferry turning. This passes through Penelewey and just past the Punchbowl and Ladle pub is a turning on signposted to Coombe, continue along this road, through Porthkea and turn sharp right down to Coombe. After the second cattle grid, park in a layby on the left, then walk down to the creek.
